The Indescribable Power of Love and Gratitude.

Dr. Masaru Emoto, an internationally- renowned Japanese scientist, has done very original research on how molecules of water are affected by our thoughts, words and feelings.

The importance of water is often forgotten. A fetus is made up of 99% water. When we are born our bodies are 90% water. By the time we reach adulthood, the water content has declined to 70% and by the time we die, our bodies will only contain about 50% water. Each day the human liver filters nearly 200 liters of water for delivery to the other organs in the body.

In other words, throughout most of our lives, we are mostly water.

Dr. Emoto has written a fascinating book entitled: The Hidden Messages In Water. In his book, Emoto explains how crystals formed in frozen water reveal changes, when specific, concentrated thoughts are directed towards them.

Emoto studied and photographed crystals in water. These crystals are created during a 20- to-30 second period when frozen water begins to melt. Emoto’s pictures of crystals have become world famous. The Hidden Messages In Water has sold 400,000 copies, largely through word of mouth. He has lectured in many countries all over the world, and people are deeply moved by his photographs of ice crystals.

As Emoto relates: “I often hear people gasp in surprise and sometimes even see them shed tears. I have discovered that a single drop of water can have various ripple effects on an individual.”

Emoto found that the water of Tokyo, which is heavily chlorinated, did not contain a single complete crystal. Apparently, the chlorine totally destroyed the structure found in natural water.

Exposing music to water created amazing results. When Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony, with its bright and clear tones, was played to water, beautiful and well-formed crystals were created. Mozart’s 40[supth[/sup] Symphony, a prayer to beauty, made crystals that were delicate and elegant.

But when the water was exposed to violent, heavy-metal music, the crystals were fragmented and malformed at best.

Other experiments were equally extraordinary. Emoto wrote phrases on pieces of paper and wrapped the paper around the bottles of water with the words facing inward.

“The results of the experiment didn’t disappoint us. Water exposed to ‘Thank You’ formed beautiful hexagonal crystals, but water exposed to the word ‘Fool’ produced crystals like the ones formed when the water was exposed to violent, heavy-metal music, fragmented and malformed at best.”

The author concluded there was an important lesson: “The vibrations of good words have a positive effect on our world, but the vibrations from negative words have the power to destroy.”

Of all the crystals the author photographed, the most beautiful was the one created from the words “love” and “gratitude”.

Emoto believes that ice crystals are closely linked to the human soul. As he pondered why his photographs moved so many people, Emoto came to believe that ice crystals contain the key to the mysteries of the universe. “This key can unlock the consciousness required to understand the proper order of the universe and our role in it.”

It is well known that all human beings vibrate at a unique frequency. For example, someone carrying great sadness will send a sadness frequency. A person who is full of joy and loves life will convey that frequency. But a person who acts with evil intentions will send off dark frequencies.

“The fact that everything is in a state of vibration also means that everything is creating sounds.” So, water, which is so pervasive in the human body, is sensitive to the unique frequencies being transmitted across the world--essentially reflecting the frequencies themselves.

If you fill your heart with love and gratitude, you will be surrounded by the same emotions, but if you send out negative energy, full of hate and dissatisfaction and sadness, you will find yourself in exactly that world.

A family that subscribes to a magazine that Dr. Emoto publishes conducted a remarkable experiment. They put rice in two glass jars and every day for a month they said “thank you” to one jar and “fool” to the other. After a month, the rice that was the recipient of “thank you” started to ferment with a mellow smell of malt. The rice that was blasted with the messages “you fool” rotted and turned black.

This experiment was eventually conducted by hundreds of families throughout Japan and all of them reported the same results.

One family tried an interesting variation. They said “thank you” to one bottle of rice, “you fool” to the second bottle and they simply ignored the third bottle.

The rice that was ignored rotted before the rice that was exposed to “you fool”.

Emoto concluded that the most damaging form of human behavior is withholding your attention. Perhaps there is a lesson here for children, grandchildren, spouses, parents, friends and employers.

Emoto also discusses negative emotions and how to dispel them. A few years ago, a university in Japan created a way of erasing sound with sound. The university made one noise that would erase the unwanted noise, thereby creating a quiet space, (for example, around a public telephone). This same method has also been used to reduce the noise of an automobile engine.

The same principle applies to human emotions. Every negative emotion has its opposite:

Hate / Gratitude
Anger / Kindness
Fear / Courage
Anxiety / Peace Of Mind
Pressure / Presence Of Mind

“If you’ve been made sick by the emotion of hate, then you need to look for healing in the emotion of appreciation.”

Emoto also made another remarkable discovery. While love can have enormous healing powers, the combination of love and gratitude is exceedingly more powerful.

Emoto experimented with two types of water: 1) distilled water and 2) tap water exposed to the words “love” and “gratitude”. The crystals created from the distilled water were deformed and incomplete. But, the normally formless tap water, when exposed to the words “love” and “gratitude”, made complete crystals.

The words, “love” and “gratitude” were able to make the water immune to the negative effects of chlorine.

Emoto carries his thesis even further--gratitude is more powerful than love.

Emoto found that the love and gratitude crystals resemble gratitude crystals more than the love crystals.

“What this indicates is that the gratitude vibration is more powerful and has a greater influence. Love tends to be a more active energy, the act of giving oneself unconditionally. By contrast, gratitude is a more passive energy, a feeling that results from having been given something--knowing that you have been given the gift of life and reaching out to receive it joyously with both hands.”

The author suggests having twice as much gratitude as love.
